Every year, December brings some of the biggest releases to Nigerian cinemas, as filmmakers battle for audiences looking for the perfect mix of drama, comedy, family stories, and big-screen entertainment. This year already looks promising too, as three movies are already confirmed for cinema release this December.
The movies are from Nollywood’s biggest names. The first is The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives by Mo Abudu, followed by Funke Akindele’s The Four, and then Bestie, produced by Toyin Abraham.

1. The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wife
Release date: December 4

This family drama explores tensions within a wealthy household. It is an adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s novel of the same name. It’s produced by Mo Abudu and EbonyLife Films in collaboration with Genesis Group, Nile Group, Silverbird Group, and Flytime. The director is Nigerian filmmaker Daniel Oriahi.
Plot
The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wife centers on a rich, unlettered Yoruba patriarch, Baba Segi, and his household consisting of three wives (Iya Segi, Iya Tope, and Iya Femi) and seven children. Baba Segi’s marriage to Bolanle, an educated fourth wife, completely disrupts the delicate balance of power and secrets within the family. Bolanle’s struggles with infertility spark intense jealousy and unearth hidden family betrayals that threaten to tear the household apart.

The movie stars Odunlade Adekola as Baba Segi, Iyabo Ojo as Iya Segi (the first wife), Mercy Aigbe as Iya Tope, Bimbo Ademoye as Iya Femi, and Omowunmi Dada as Bolanle. Other cast includes Olarotimi Fakunle, Bimbo Manuel, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Mike Ezuruonye, Nkechi Blessing, Bisola Aiyeola, and Bolaji Ogunmola.

2. The Four: No One Fights Alone
Release date: December 11

The Four: No One Fights Alone celebrates friendship, motherhood, resilience, and the extraordinary strength of ordinary women. It is produced and directed by Funke Akindele, the queen of box office herself. She currently holds the record for the highest-grossing Nigerian filmmaker of all time, with her December 2025 movie, Behind the Scenes, becoming the first Nollywood movie to cross the ₦2 billion box office mark. With The Four: No One Fights Alone, this year is another opportunity to break new records.
Plot
The story follows Esosa and three fiercely loyal women whose journey to fight for the future of a young man they love tests their courage, faith, and loyalty in unimaginable ways.

The cast includes Funke Akindele as Labake, Bisola Aiyeola as Todun, Chioma Chukwuka (Akpotha) as Somto, Waje as Esosa, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) as Chief Osusuowo, Timini Egbuson as Sossick, Lateef Adedimeji as Rotimi, Wunmi Toriola as Madame Abike, Ali Nuhu as Baala, Uzor Arukwe as Calistus, and Shoday as Oba.
The official trailer is yet to be released, but a first glimpse of the movie has already given fans something to look forward to.

Bestie
Release date: December 16

Bestie is produced and directed by Toyin Abraham, who is one of the top box-office powerhouses in Nollywood. Her December 2025 movie, Oversabi Aunty, was a massive hit, crossing the ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office. With Bestie, Toyin Abraham is hoping to deliver another festive-season hit.

Cast
The cast and characters revealed so far are Toyin Abraham who played Ngozi, Pete Edochie as Papa Ngozi Sola Sobowale as Mama Ngozi, Maurice Sam as Peter, Reminisce as Kazeem (aka Alaga Big Star), and Opeyemi Ayanwale (Imisi) as Suzy Baby. Some cast are yet to be revealed as cast revealing is still ongoing.
