Zethu Gqola, the music marketing powerhouse and GLAMOUR Women of the Year Next Gen Game Changer, is stepping into the podcasting scene with Quiet Conversations. In collaboration with Quiet Life Co., the podcast aims to peel back the layers of South Africa’s most compelling creative minds, giving us an intimate look at the art and hustle behind the music.
Zethu, whose nearly 300,000 TikTok followers know her for sharp takes on pop culture and socio-political topics, is now channeling her insights into a platform that celebrates artistry and innovation. With a career spanning fashion journalism, mega music festivals, and global tours, Zethu has spent the last three years immersed in the recording industry, helping artists bring their visions to life.
And now, with Quiet Conversations, she’s cracking open the stories behind the moments that shaped music and culture. Think of it as part behind-the-scenes exposé, part masterclass in creativity. From album concepts to career-defining decisions, Zethu unpacks what makes some projects timeless and others groundbreaking.
The first episode flips the script, featuring an interview with Zethu herself, conducted by Quiet Life Co. founder Danilo Queiros. It’s an origin story of sorts, where Zethu reveals the journey that brought her to this creative crossroads.
Quiet Life Co., based in Cape Town, is a sound incubator dedicated to building infrastructure for artist growth. So, it’s no surprise that Episode 2 and 3, recorded during Spotify Africa’s Mother of Music takeover in Cape Town, spotlight music’s movers and shakers. These episodes capture the essence of live panels that dissect the creative grind from every angle.
As the podcast rolls into 2025, expect an electrifying lineup. Zethu will sit down with artists like rising R&B sensation Manana, internationally acclaimed Afro-folk star Bongeziwe Mabandla, and Lelowhatsgood, the brain behind South Africa’s iconic VNJ Ball. Also on deck is Robyn Keyser, founder of Cape Town’s cult streetwear brand, Art Club & Friends.
