Jonn P: Lagos Producer and Songwriter Expanding His Global Footprint

Lagos-based artist Jonn P has steadily built a reputation as one of the most promising rising writers and producers in contemporary African music. His contributions to Davido’s Timeless include co-writing and producing “In The Garden,” “Kante,” and “E PAIN ME,” works that played a role in shaping the critically acclaimed album. His international reach extends to a Top 10 hit in Spain with Ozuna’s “Eva Longoria” featuring Davido, certified double platinum. Additional collaborations include Clean Bandit, Crayon, Ozuna, and Chris Brown, positioning him as a versatile and sought-after creator within the global music ecosystem.

Jonn P’s artistic journey began in the church, where music became a source of comfort following the loss of his mother. He immersed himself in the church band, developing his musicianship through consistent practice and spiritual conviction. A defining moment occurred after a night of prayer, leading to what he describes as a spiritual awakening that sharpened his musical abilities. Within a month, he became the church’s principal pianist. This experience continues to inform his work as a producer, writer, and now recording artist, guiding the emotional and sonic depth present in his music.

Upcoming Single: “Rotation (The Way You Move)”

“Rotation (The Way You Move)” draws inspiration from Jonn P’s visit to the Notting Hill Carnival in London, the largest street festival in Europe and an emblem of Caribbean heritage. Immersed in the sounds of dancehall, reggae, and soca, and the diversity of Caribbean cuisine, he translated the vibrancy of that environment into the energy of the single. The track connects themes of love, discovery, self-realisation, and the pursuit of greatness, capturing the spirit of movement and cultural exchange that defined his experience at the carnival.

Upcoming Project: Letter to Delia

Letter to Delia is a personal project dedicated to the memory of Jonn P’s late mother. The EP documents his trajectory through grief, faith, and artistic evolution, presenting a narrative shaped by introspection and emotional clarity. Through sincere songwriting and understated production, the project reflects both the influence of his mother on his creative development and the spiritual grounding that continues to shape his artistic perspective.
