Jorja Smith’s “High” Is A Dancefloor Remedy For Heartbreak

Summer isn’t over just yet.

British R&B-soul star Jorja Smith continues to keep a firm grip on the reins of her career as she shares her new single, “High”.

The inception and growth of her label, FAMM, has been the key talking point in 2024, but that’s part of a larger conversation surrounding her newfound independence as an artist. Jorja’s most recent album, 2023’s Falling Or Flying, was the first fruit of her liberty and new single “High” continues that theme. Produced, as with much of her recent material, by DAMEDAME*, this is Jorja’s first original release since the album.

A track about finding the strength to pick yourself up and move forward after a rough breakup, it combines her graceful R&B signature with an energising deep house rhythm.

Speaking on the track’s inspiration, Jorja explains: “‘High’ is a song I wrote about finding a friend within myself. Even through the lows, you have to find the highs.”

Directed by Jorja alongside Ivor Lawson-Adamah, you can watch the video for “High” below.
