Summer may well be over, but Sha Sha—the BET Award-winning Amapiano vocalist—is here to give us one more burst of fun with her new single, “Ndawana”.
Teaming up with Amapiano pioneer Kelvin Momo and rising star Sykes, Sha Sha reclaims the spotlight with her first major release since her 2022-released, critically-acclaimed debut album, I’m Alive. This new track marks a new chapter for the Zimbabwean artist, showcasing her evolution into a more mature, soulful sound.
“Ndawana” is a smooth, feel-good love anthem that blends the hypnotic essence of Amapiano with a contemporary, global twist. Sha Sha’s soothing vocals—sung in her native Shona—grips you by the first note, and in next to no time you’ll be singing along right with her. At its heart, “Ndawana” is about love in all its forms—romantic, familial, even spiritual—delivering a universal message wrapped in a euphoric, summery vibe.
The track also marks the first time Sha Sha has collaborated with Kelvin Momo, one of the key architects of Amapiano’s global rise. Known for his chart-topping album, Sewe, Momo brings his smooth, jazzy touch to “Ndawana”, perfectly complementing Sha Sha’s warm, emotive delivery. Meanwhile, newcomer Sykes’ gritty yet soulful vocals add an extra layer of depth, resulting in a melodic cut that bridges the gap between Amapiano purists and mainstream audiences.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Sha Sha said: “Working with Kelvin Momo was a new experience for me. It allowed me to explore different sides of my artistry that I hadn’t tapped into in a while. This song feels more mature, more reflective of my personal growth.”
She went on to explain how serendipitous the meeting with Sykes was: “It was completely unexpected, but it added so much value. We had this instant chemistry that brought the song to life in a special way.” As for the subject matter, Sha Sha “always aims to convey that love is real and powerful in all its forms. It’s not just about romance; love exists in so many variations, and I want people to feel that when they listen to my music.”
This release signals a pivotal moment for Sha Sha as she enters a new era in her career. With the backing of her management team at Black Major, she’s ready to dive into new projects and live performances, setting the stage for an even bigger year ahead, including a highly-anticipated album set to drop next year.
For now, “Ndawana” is available on all streaming platforms, and is poised to be a go-to for anyone looking to bask in the warmth of summer and the power of love.
