For more than a decade, African electronic music has been shaping dance floors across the globe. From the explosive rise of Amapiano to the hypnotic pulse of Afro House, Gqom, Afro Tech and 3 Step, these sounds have become impossible to ignore. Yet despite their growing cultural impact, the UK had never offered a dedicated national radio platform fully committed to showcasing this movement, until now.
The acclaimed UK DJ, producer and cultural curator has officially launched The Afro Electronic Show with Larizzle on KISS XTRA, making history with the country’s first nationally broadcast radio show solely dedicated to African electronic music. Airing every Saturday from 9pm to 11pm, the show marks a major milestone not only in Larizzle’s personal journey, but also in the wider recognition of African electronic culture within mainstream British media.

Long before landing a prime national radio slot, he was building his craft within London’s underground radio ecosystem, coming through pirate stations including Deja Vu FM, Delight FM and Bang Radio, now known as The Beat London. Those formative years laid the foundation for a career rooted in persistence, cultural storytelling and a deep commitment to championing African sounds on a global scale.
Over time, his reputation grew through guest mixes and appearances across platforms such as BBC Radio 1Xtra, Capital XTRA and KISS. In recent months, Larizzle also hosted Friday open-format shows on KISS XTRA, a transition that would eventually lead to the official launch of a fully dedicated Afro Electronic platform.

“After 15 years of believing in this vision, this moment means everything,” Larizzle shared. “But bigger than me, it represents African electronic music continuing to receive the space and recognition it deserves. Amapiano, Afro House, Gqom and so many African electronic sounds are influencing music globally, and I’m proud to help create a dedicated national platform to celebrate the artists and culture behind it.”
More than just a radio programme, The Afro Electronic Show positions itself as a cultural hub for the continent and its diaspora. Through exclusive guest mixes, new music discoveries and conversations rooted in community and identity, the platform highlights both established and emerging voices shaping the future of African electronic music. Guests featured so far include Kamo WW, Vumaala, Sef Kombo and Lil Stuuner, also known as Sheila Gashumba.

Outside radio, Larizzle’s influence continues to stretch across borders. Having toured five continents, delivered sold-out headline performances and made a standout debut at Glastonbury Festival, he has steadily established himself as one of the leading global ambassadors for African electronic sounds.
His creative vision also extends into his label, Larah Records, a platform dedicated to supporting emerging African and diaspora talent through music releases, live experiences and community-driven cultural initiatives.
Alongside his work behind the decks, Larizzle’s debut EP L.A.R.A.H (Love Always Resides Around Here) offered a deeply personal artistic statement. Featuring collaborations with Ella Eyre, Rachel Foxx and others, the project celebrated women in music while honouring the memory of his late daughter through themes of love, resilience and legacy.

The significance of the new show has already begun resonating across the industry, with the launch recently receiving recognition from DJ Mag, another sign that African electronic music is entering a new era of visibility and influence.
With The Afro Electronic Show, Larizzle is not simply hosting a radio programme. He is helping archive a movement, amplify a culture and create long overdue space for African electronic music within the mainstream conversation.
And after 15 years of dedication, the timing could not feel more important.
