June Freedom Is Ready to “Dance Again”

The Cape Verdean artist, based in Los Angeles, reunites with Eva Ruiz on a multilingual single where rhythm and culture move as one.

For June Freedom, borders have never defined the limits of his music. His latest release, “Dance Again,” continues that journey, bringing him back together with Spanish singer Eva Ruiz for a track that feels both intimate and global.

Released on September 18th, “Dance Again” marks the second collaboration between the two artists, following their 2023 track “Guava Rose,” which has surpassed 5.6 million combined streams and views. This time, June and Eva explore the emotional gravity of attraction: the moment when chemistry begins to evolve into something deeper, more vulnerable and harder to resist.

The song moves naturally between English, Spanish and Cabo Verdean Kriolu, with each language carrying its own identity rather than functioning as a translation. It is a reflection of June’s own artistic world, one shaped by his Cape Verdean roots, his life in the United States and an increasingly international audience.

Produced by Etienne, whose credits include Jaz Karis, mgk, Ella Mai and Kehlani, and co-produced by Varren Wade, known for work with Drake, GIVEON and Jessie J, “Dance Again” brings together a team with a distinctly global pop sensibility.

For June, the release arrives at a significant moment in his career. In 2026, he became the most-awarded artist at the 15th Cabo Verde Music Awards, taking home Album of the Year for Casa Mira Mar, Music Video of the Year for “Spiritual,” and Collaboration of the Year for “Go Low.” His catalogue has surpassed 447 million career streams, while his Spotify audience continues to grow internationally.

But numbers tell only part of the story. June’s work has increasingly extended beyond music itself, most notably through the FREEDOM EXPERIENCE, a multidisciplinary concept bringing together live performance, visual art, cuisine and community. With editions across Lisbon, Cabo Verde, Atlanta and Miami, the experience reflects the same cultural fluidity that defines his music.

“Dance Again” sits naturally within that world. It is a record about connection between two people, but also between places, languages and identities. With Eva Ruiz bringing her own history of memory, vulnerability and emotional tension to the song, June once again turns his transatlantic perspective into music that refuses to stay in one place.
