The title, Añurika—Igbo for “joy is greater”—sets the tone for an EP that’s as much about celebration as it is about introspection.
Recorded under the January sun in Lagos, Añurika isn’t just another addition to the growing catalogue of Afropop—it’s a love letter to the brothers’ homeland, woven with threads of hip-hop, disco, dancehall, and traditional Igbo sounds. Tracks like “Enjoy Life” and “Napukenda” channel the sun-soaked vibes of Lagos while pushing the boundaries of genre, blending the old with the new in ways that only itsENJ can.
From the infectious rhythm of “Enjoy Life” to the soulful depths of “Where You Dey”, the EP explores themes that hit close to home. “Napukenda”, which means “I love you” in Swahili, is a standout—a sweeping love anthem that captures the nerves and excitement of making the ultimate commitment. Meanwhile, “Ego” and “On God” offer a more personal look at the brothers’ journey, touching on perseverance, faith, and the triumph of the human spirit.
