Kokoroko Warm Up Fans Ahead of Their Upcoming Album With ‘Get The Message’ EP

The pithy project puts the band’s eclectic style on full display.

Off the heels of their previously released single, “Three Piece Suit” featuring Azekel, Kokoroko continue their experimental streak on their new EP, Get The Message. The project   offers fans of the British band a taste of what’s to come in their upcoming album which is billed for release in 2025. And it is flavourful with purposeful hints of psychedelic soul, afro-rock, dub and funk. Our tastes are richer and more developed. We’re now creating from a completely different viewpoint and it’s been quite freeing,Onome Edgeworth, the band’s percussionist says about the band’s musical growth.

At the heart of Get The Message’s four tracks is a welcoming journey into the importance of interconnectedness and fostering strong communities, celebrating heritage, and the beauty of evolution. Opening with the soothing horn-laden lead track “Higher”, the project’s sonics opts for a more minimalist twist in place of the band’s usual exuberant sound.

That song is a mantra,” says Sheila Maurice-Grey the band’s co-founder and trumpeter. With the repeated lyrics, we were setting the intention and the tone of what we wanted to do with the EP which is to be a balm for people. Being a voice of hope, comfort in a time where the world isn’t always promoting positive energy, unity and togetherness”.

Kokoroko will be embarking on a mini-headline tour across the UK from November 23rd. A vinyl release of the EP will follow on November 29th.

In the meantime, give the project a spin below:
